It was booked more for convenience being near family. But when we got there the hotel was lovely, bigger than expected with a bar and restaurant which wasn't that apparent on the website so a nice surprise. It was too wet for my son to play in the adventure playground but it looked great. Room was basic but very comfortable with a large bathroom. Ideal family room.
There was a party on the Saturday night which made it hard to park & the owner booked us in on the Sunday night instead of the Saturday night so we ended up with a room at the back of the hotel. This would not put us off staying again but I would phone ahead to check the booking. We have recommended it to other family members.

My main comment about our stay at the Hotel is the views were good as well as the nice location in the small hamlet, on my early morning walks there was an abundance of wildlife to be seen.

It is situated in a very pleasant village within easy walking distance of a few local pubs and has good views across the Forth.
The public bar lacked atmosphere. I was surprised that it closed at 11pm but at 11pm there were no other customers so I understand the reasolning

The location was stunning, right next to the Firth of Forth with lovely views of the water and the magnificent bridges too. You wouldn't believe that you're only 20minutes from Edinburgh, it feels like you're a million miles away from city life in the middle of the countryside. Hotel staff were all very friendly and the value for money at this hotel is excellent. Less than £100 for 1night room, 3 course meal for 2 plus drinks!
The only thing to take in to consideration when visiting this hotel is not to expect the Ritz, you get what you pay for. It was a comfortable room at a low price, but don't expect anything modern or new! And the food, although good portioned, was pretty average and nothing special to be honest.

The Hotel was convenient for our needs and provided the basics. Good Hot water for the Bath/Shower and adequate coffee/tea facilities.
Lack of Internet access in the room.

It suited my location as I was attending a course nearby
The cleanliness of my facilities left a lot to be desired

In the midst of this freezing snow, sub zero temperatures and living in a drafty open plan house it was lovely to be warm! Very comfortable, helpful and friendly staff. Was there on a training course and excellent facilities for that. Beautiful location made even more stunning in the snow.

The room I stayed in like before, was spacious, very clean and well appointed. Everything worked well with good shower and very hot water when needed Unlike some hotels I have stayed in. The central heating was kept on all night making it very comfortable in minus degrees temp!

I really liked the fact that the owner thought it is OK to wear a red tracksuit to meet his customers, says it all really about this "hotel" Nice location with good views, could be a really nice place to stay.
No one met me at reception, I had to find someone at the bar, Staff didn't know how to check me in. The Hotel boasts WIFI in All rooms, Unfortunately it doesn't deliver & the owner was not very helpful when I pointed this out & asked to change rooms, I was told to wander around & see if I could get a signal, but it was likely to go down at any time. Food was average, Bed was old & saggy, still using sheets & bedspreads. I would not stay here again.

Our room was close to a function suite where a wedding party took place on the Friday evening. The noise was overwhelming. However, the management made a commercial gesture in consequence. Guests should check beforehand if events are planned in the hotel.
